Located in historic Broadway Village, this is "A Wine Country restaurant," which means that the sophisticated selection of wines ­ all domestic ­ is designed to compliment the fine cuisine. Sample escargot in open-faced ravioli and grilled salmon with shaved fennel in citrus broth. The spacious dining is comfortably modern, with plush furnishings, rich woods and large windows, and the patio is a warm-weather treat.

NORTH TUCSON. Try this breezy cafe for a tasty French-style meal. Chef Coralie Satta-Williams is originally from Marseilles and she creates an array of tempting breakfasts such as her signature Eggs Provençale and fresh strawberry French toast. Lunch options range from creative salad combinations (try grilled Portobello, grapes and smoked Gouda on Romaine lettuce), to fancy sandwiches and full-flavored pastas. And the traditional Marseillaise omelette is a taste treat, filled with anchovies, tomatoes and garlic. Ghini's has a nice selection of French wines as well.

FOOTHILLS. Janos Wilder, award-winning chef and owner of this lovely restaurant, offers spectacular views and spectacular food to match. Focusing on Southwestern cuisine created with a decidedly French flair, meals here are prepared with local ingredients at the peak of freshness. Every dish is a complex yet rewarding combination of flavors ­ try lobster with papaya in champagne sauce or green tea smoked duck with stir-fried bok choy and spiced plums. Savor each with a complimentary wine and you have what many call the best dining experience in Arizona.

NORTH TUCSON. Vive le France! Chef and Breton native Laurent Reux features seafood from his homeland at this sophisticated restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely , with a pink, burgundy and black color scheme accented with tranquil palm trees. Menu items include steamed mussels, blackened sea scallops, and roast quail. The desserts are not to be missed, with towering chocolate concoctions the favorites. Excellent wines and service. Reservations recommended.

EAST TUCSON. If your weakness is French pastries, you may want to skip this one! The selection of tempting treats ranges from chocolate topped éclairs, dainty cream puffs, colorful little fruit tarts, flaky napoleons, multi-layered tortes, and beautiful madeleines and palmiers. Truffles and marzipan figures offer bite-size satisfaction, and the array of freshly baked breads will make you want to give up your Atkins diet forever.
